Основные события фильма происходят в 1942 году во время Великой Отечественной войны в Карелии.В тылу советских войск расквартировано два отделения взвода зенитных войск. К старшине Васкову,недовольному поведением солдат (в частности тягой к противоположному полу) присылают девушек-добровольцев, многие из которых только закончили школу. Находясь в самовольной отлучке,одна из бойцов взвода, Рита Осянина, обнаружила, что через близлежащие болота идёт диверсионнаянемецкая группа в количестве двух человек. Осянина, вернувшись в расположение, докладывает обэтом старшине Васкову, и тот принимает решение остановить группу любой ценой.
