TessHex Огляд пісні Джамали "1944" перед Євробаченням (англ)
- 17.08.16, 15:59
Yesterday, Ukraine chose their song for Eurovision, and it's a serious heavy-hitter, so I won't make any jokes about it.
They've gone with Susana Jamaladinova's "1944", inspired by her great-grandmother's experiences in Crimea, under Stalin (I think). Since this song deals with heavy, serious, real subject matter, I'd find it to be in poor taste to make jokes at the song's expense.
I like its sense of drama, and how intense its emotions are, and my only concern is that it might become one of those songs that you're "not allowed to criticise", like Finland last year.
Oh, and she sings the refrain in Crimean Tatar, a language that has never appeared at Eurovision before. I applaud that decision.
