The Akai MPC Studio expands the new, computer based MPC range The Akai MPC Studio is another new addition to the range, and the second product to be based around its recently unveiled MPC software. The hardware features the same, familiar arrangement of velocity sensitive trigger pads, backlit display and controls of its predecessors. Like its bigger brother, the MPC Renaissance, this is designed to harness the power of a host computer to deliver the most comprehensive, flexible and convenient MPC workflow ever.
Ultra Slim, 1” thin design The most immediately striking design aspect of the Akai MPC Studio is its size. With a chassis that measures around an inch in thickness, it is clear that this is very much aimed at being a portable MPC. At this size, it will easily slide into most laptop bags. The unit is equipped with 16 classic MPC pads, with a bank of four Q-control rotary controls to the left. On the right, the transport control section will familiar to anyone who has used an older MPC, along with other selection, function and edit buttons. The MPC Studio connects to the host computer via USB, and an additional MIDI in and out feature for connection to external MIDI equipment.
