Chernobyl tours 2018

Our company has been engaged in excursions for many years and has great experience in quality preparation of trips.

For the help in organizing the excursion to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, we thank the ChernobylInterinform Agency.
At nine in the morning the excursion group from Kiev travels to Chernobyl on a comfortable bus. The distance from Kiev to Chernobyl is about 140 km.
Meeting with an escort to the thirty-kilometer zone at the checkpoint "Dityatki". Checking documents, vehicles and things. Read more: http://chernobylplace.com/tour-to-chernobyl/
A short course of training in behavior in the radiation-hazardous area, the use of protective equipment.

Photo near the 4th reactor of the Chernobyl NPP. You will be near the main "closed" object of the zone!
Visit the viewing pavilion of the press service of the "Shelter" facility (except for weekends!). Demonstration of a unique documentary film about liquidation and liquidators of anthropogenic explosion at the 4th reactor. Photo gallery, mock-ups of the nuclear power plant, little-known "first-hand" information about the state of the sarcophagus today.
Further on the program you will see the remains of the famous "red forest", part of which was left for scientific research. Extreme! A trip to Pripyat is a "ghost town", fenced with barbed wire. You will see abandoned houses in 1986, in which items of everyday use, furniture, curtains, books, musical instruments, toys have been preserved !!!

Kiev Private Tour Guide, Kate Dobromishev – Guide me UA

Kiev Private tour guide

My name is Kate Dobromishev, I’m a Kiev Private Tour Guide.

Speaking English, I show Kiev to the guests of the Ukrainian capital since 2015. Being a traveler myself, I know what travelers expect on while their stay in a new city. And being a local I know the best attractions and hidden yards of Kiev like the back of my hand.

Tourists in Kiev

Now there are a lot of tourists in Kiev. I think that compared with two more years earlier, the number of visitors has doubled; however, according to the official data, compared to 2015, the growth was 20%, which is also very good rate.

Such interest in Ukraine is fueled by both international events like Euro 2012, Eurovision 2017, the 2018 UEFA Champions League Final, and the city itself. Kiev is proud of its centuries-old history, original architecture, developed infrastructure and bright modern life, especially night life.

Working as a guide in Kiev for 3 years, I held excursions for the Eurovision delegation, for Toyota Japan and Hollywood stars, for people of all ages and nationalities. First I even made a list of countries my guests were from; most came from the US, Canada, Israel, Britain and Germany.

You can see photos on:

What Kiev has to offer?

85% of guests want to see and to get to know about the main sights, the history of Ukraine, Cossacks, relations with Russia, revolutions, national cuisine, things the country is famous and proud of. For those who like classical routes with the main sights, I offer general route through the old city, which includes: the Golden Gate, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Saint Sophia Cathedral, Saint Andrew Church and the Descent going down from it, monument to the great and mighty Bogdan Khmelnytsky, the main Orthodox shrine – St. Vladimir’s Cathedral with the relics of St. Barbara.

Tours to Ancient Kiev:

For those who like Soviet history, and the monuments built during the Soviet era, I recommend visiting National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the World War II, where you will also see the Motherland Monument – the 102-meter statue. It is also possible to visit Babi Yar, where during the war the Jews were shot; a military cemetery where the Heroes of the Soviet Union as well as ATO participants fighting in the east of Ukraine were buried.

Tours to Soviet Kiev:

For the remaining 15% of guests who do not like churches and monuments, but want to understand how local people live today, where they hang out, what they like, what modern art and architecture looks like in Ukraine, I make tours to non-tourist places – I acquaint travelers with Kiev street art, modern museums, street food and secret bars, I tell them more about current events, urban gossip and a bit about politics.

Tours to modern Kiev:

Ideal Tour

In my opinion the Ideal Tour of the city is a combination of pleasant and friendly atmosphere, humor, delicious coffee and interesting facts about the city that only local people know, and Wikipedia does not. And the ideal route for me in Kiev is: the Square of the Golden Gate (not the Golden Gate itself, although there are a lot of funny facts about it, but the square with the same name with Baron castle, ravens on Reitarskaya street, Hedgehog in the Fog, Yaroslaviv Val Street), Podil with its old houses, Shevchenko Park and the Taras Shevchenko monument with two coats, One Love Espresso Bar in front of the St. Nicholas Church where you can play chess; and of course my favorite view of the city – when you walk out of the metro on Kontraktova Square, look around and see the hills and St. Andrew’s Church on top and vermillion Pyrogoshcha Church, and you feel really good, because you live in a beautiful city and you can enjoy it every day.

Best private tours in Kiev: Sights, local food, nightlife.

If you want your trip in Ukraine to be as bright as possible, can’t wait to visit all the important sights and best Ukrainian restaurants and nightclubs, and at the same time want no hassle, you should definitely ask local residents for Kiev Tours. Entrust your valuable time to professional Kiev guides!

Based on years of experience and tastes of tourists, the following Kiev Tours were set:

A guided tour in Kiev that includes all the main sights located in the city center. This is a great legacy of the reign of Yaroslav the Wise: Golden Gates, the main gateway to the city; Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, the first Kiev monastery; St. Sophia Cathedral, unique by definition, since it is the oldest stone temple in the Kievan Rus’, which was built in 11th century and has never been destroyed. Also walking around the center of the capital you will get acquainted with the architecture of the 18th century - the St. Andrew's Church, which was built at the behest of the Russian Empress Elizaveta Petrovna; it is the only church without bells in Kiev. The National Opera of Ukraine was constructed in 19th century; it is beautiful but mysterious building. Perhaps that is due to the murder that was committed in the theater in the beginning of 20th century. Make sure to buy opera or ballet tickets – you will definitely like it.

The Soviet period is represented by Stalinist style buildings on the main street of our city. After the Nazis destroyed the city center, Khreshchatyk was built up with Soviet style skyscrapers; it is fair to say, they harmoniously fit Ukrainian landscape.

Gradually getting acquainted with the history of Ukraine, you will find yourself on the Maidan - in the center of Kiev, where the fate of the whole country was decided. This is the site of 4 revolutions, the place where Ukrainian people become united, and it is the heart of our homeland.

The Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is a huge monastery with an area of 30 hectares, so guides always make visit to the Lavra a separate tour. After all, this unique place was visited by about 50 million people from all over the world. The site consists of more than 20 churches, 6 of them are underground. It is inscribed on the UNESCO Heritage List and is the very first monastery in Kievan Rus’. During the tour you will get acquainted with the main sights of the Lavra: the main Dormition Cathedral, Trinity Church, which is the oldest church in the territory of the monastery, and the Refectory church. Your private Kiev guide will show you famous caves (those suffering from claustrophobia are not recommended to attend) that are divided into two complexes – the Near (380 meters) and Far Caves (460 meters). You will also climb the Bell tower (96.5 meters) where you can enjoy stunning views of the city.

Kiev Museum of Microminiatures does not constitute a part of this religious monument. But it is located on the territory of the Lavra and it is absolutely unique and stunning place that is in a must-visit list.

Podil is the oldest and most mysterious area of Kiev, full of legends. The tour begins on the Starokievska Mountain. In the 6th-7th centuries before the adoption of Christianity, it was a meeting point for witches, who performed their ceremonies and rituals here. Even today one can see a special place for sacrifice that is located opposite the History Museum of Ukraine. But the main attraction of the tour is Andreevsky Descent (Andrew’s Descent) with its heap of souvenir shops, restaurants, museums and theaters.

You will see the Castle of Richard, the museum of the famous Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov, and the Museum of one street. And walking down you will find yourself on the Kontraktova Square, where in the old days merchants traded all sorts of things. This Kiev tour is perfect for connoisseurs of secrets and fairy tales, rather than those who like huge pompous buildings.

Mezhyhirya as Kiev public park (to be precise, it is 20 km from Kiev) become open to the public only 3 years ago. Until 2014, it was the residence of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who fled to Russia after the events on the Maidan. The territory of Mezhyhiria is 150 hectares; it consists of a golf course, a zoo and a garage for 70 cars, beautiful 4-storied palace, and much more. Having visited this place, not a single person leaves it indifferent.

Mezhyhirya Residence

However, all this wealth reminds us of the terrible problem of corruption Ukraine is tirelessly struggling with.

After that much of sightseeing, it’s high time for hot spots of the capital. Even if you looked for the best bars and nightclubs in Kiev  on the net and in numerous ads, you will most likely not find places that absolutely suit your taste. Many issues matter: budget, style, people, and in addition, nobody wants to waste his time in vain when in new country. Tell your Kiev private guide what places you want to go to, and she will make you a personal tour of the best bars in Kiev.

These are the most popular tours and the main places for tourists to visit in Kiev.
