Режисcеры : Станислав Говорухин, Борис Дуров. Группа альпинистов под руководством опытного Виталия Ломова отправляется в Сванетию для покорения горы Ор-Тау. Четверо идут на вершину, а внизу, в лагере остаются радист Володя и врач Лариса. Володя получает сообщение, что надвигается циклон и передаёт его группе, однако один из альпинистов скрывает эту информацию от спутников. Альпинисты достигают вершины, а на спуске их настигает снегопад и гроза. Их ожидает трудный путь назад.
